Perfect Portrait - breed standard
The Australian Labradoodle is a graceful dog with a compact and perfectly balanced build. His attitude exudes joy, and his look shows extraordinary intelligence and intuition. He is an athlete with a light step who always seems to be "people-oriented".
1. Dimensions and proportions
In this breed, harmony is more important than stiff centimeters. The ideal silhouette fits into a rectangle (proportion 10:12 - slightly longer than tall).
There are three size variants:
- Miniature: less than 45 cm at the withers.
- Medium: from 45 cm to 60 cm at the withers.
- Standard: over 60 cm at the withers.
Important: The dog should be athletic, but not heavy. The spine and ribs must not protrude, but must be felt under the fingers with light pressure.
2. Temperament: The heart of the breed
This is a key element of the pattern. The dog must be friendly, lively and cooperative. It is characteristic that it intensively seeks eye contact with its owner - this dog "listens with its eyes".
3. Head anatomy and gaze
- Head: Nobly carved, with a distinct (but not excessive) stop. The muzzle is wide, ending with a large, fleshy nose - this is the breed's hallmark. A narrow or pointed muzzle is considered a fault.
- Eyes: Large, oval or round, widely spaced. The eye color always harmonizes with the coat color (from dark brown in black dogs, to hazel in chocolate and caramel dogs).
- Ears: Set slightly below the skull line, hanging, with a slightly raised base, which ensures the necessary ventilation of the ear canal.
4. Body structure and backline
The neck is strong and elegantly curved, smoothly blending into the horizontal line of the back. The back slopes gently behind the withers and over the hips towards the low-set tail. When at rest, the tail resembles a saber shape; can be worn higher in moments of excitement.
5. Limbs and movement
- Front: Strong bones, straight legs and short, strong wrists. Shoulders long and well angulated.
- Back: The thighs are wide and well-muscled, which gives the dog "drive".
- Movement: This is pure poetry - the dog should give the impression that it is floating above the ground without any effort. The movement is agile, flexible and completely natural.
6. Coat: A unique feature of the breed
There are two types of single-layer coat (without undercoat), which is crucial for allergy sufferers:
- Wool: It resembles the structure of a poodle, it is dense and curly. It requires regular trimming (body and paws to the same length).
- Fleece: Soft, wavy and silky to the touch. Usually presented in a longer, abundant form.
7. Colors
The color palette is extremely rich:
- Chocolate and brown shades: From light caramel, through milk chocolate, to deep, dark brown
- Light colors: Creamy, sponge-like.
- Red shades: Red, caramel, apricot.
- Unique: Lavender, parchment (parchment), cafe-au-lait (coffee with milk).
- Parti-color: Two-color combinations (with a predominance of white or cream) are allowed, although less common in pure working lines.
